Today I volunteered at the KUOW (Seattle's NPR station) fall pledge drive. I had a woman call in and donate $50. After I took down her information I asked her is she had any comments or programming notes for the station. She choked up a bit and said, "Well, I wouldn't want this mentioned on the air, but we're losing our house and my husband just lost his pension, but I couldn't stand the thought of losing NPR so I'm donating today."
The next pledge I took was my own.
